Covering the next generation of electric cars

A lot's happened since we launched the market’s first insurance especially for electric vehicles...

We're excited to see more and more makes and models of electric car become available each year. After all, we're green at heart.

That's good news if you're looking for your next EV or still thinking about making the switch, as there are now a number of cheaper, more affordable options, like leasing an electric vehicle or buying a second hand green machine.

With greater choice in terms of price and a variety of sizes available, from town cars to SUVs, it's more good news whether you're interested in a big, small, or more practical electric model.

So if you fancy a Fiat 500e or you're already loving life in your Nissan Leaf – one thing's for sure, electric cars are here to stay.

And, as a market-leader in electric car insurance, you can rest assured we’ll be leading the way to cover the next generation of vehicles.

So, which electric cars do we love to insure?

Electric cars... good to know

Only new EV sales by 2030

The sale of new pure diesel and petrol cars will be banned in the UK from 2030. The rule was originally scheduled for 2040 but has been brought forward.

You'll still be able to drive petrol and diesel cars after 2030 – the ban only applies to the sale of brand-new cars.

300k public chargers

The government is expanding the UK charging network – with around 300,000 public chargers expected to be available by 2030.

That's almost five times the number of fuel pumps on our roads today!

Regenerative braking

Electric cars recycle energy back into the battery when you brake. Ease off the accelerator and the car will slow quicker than a petrol or diesel.

It’s called regenerative braking  a clever little money-saver, giving you a few extra miles and less wear on your brake pads.
