*If you accidentally use E10 rather than E5 there’s no need to drain the tank, just fill with E5 next time.

We also have a fleet of vehicles we use in partnership with AFF the national roadside electric vehicle charging assistance company, which can recharge your vehicle and get you on the road again. This won’t affect your NCD and there’s no excess to pay
  • Cover for charging cables
Charging cables, wall boxes and adaptors are covered for accidental damage, fire and theft
  • Battery cover
Battery cover for accidental damage, fire and theft – even if you’re leasing it separately from the car
  • Over the air monthly updates (OTA)
OTA updates are covered as standard when you insure your electric vehicle with us, but if you or the previous owner paid for additional performance upgrades affecting speed or acceleration, we'll need to know. You'll only need to tell us once and not everytime you upgrade.

And if you choose our optional hire car cover:

  • We’ll provide the use of an electric or hybrid hire car if your green machine is off the road

Volvo Safety features

Most newer Volvos have a number of beneficial safety features

Things like...

  • Park Assist Pilot takes over the parking to make it safer. With Park Assist Pilot, you pull up to your space and let go of the wheel. The car steers itself and lets you know when to brake.
  • Lane Keeping Aid - if your car starts to veer out of its lane, Volvo's Lane Keeping Aid activates to gently steer you back into your lane while sending warning vibrations to keep you alert.
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) is a smart safety system that automatically applies the car's brakes if the driver doesn't react quickly enough to a hazard ahead, the system can help avoid or mitigate potential collisions.
  • Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection - Pedestrian detection functionality detects people walking near your car to help you avoid accidents. If necessary, the system can apply the brakes. If a cyclist swerves in front of your car, cyclist detection warns you with a light on the windscreen and can even brake for you if needed.
  • Pedestrian airbag - should a collision with a pedestrian occur, Volvo's Pedestrian Airbag automatically deploys to cover the windscreen, cushion the impact and help prevent serious injury.

So, where do Volvo stand on electric cars?

Here's the lowdown:

""

Volvo has made a commitment to fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness by creating a broader range of hybrids and fully electric models.

Today, you can buy plug-in hybrid Volvo cars that offer the choice to run on petrol or battery electric power, and they plan to add more powertrain options, including mild hybrids and battery electric vehicles.

  • 2019: 11 cars became available with plug-in hybrid technology
  • 2020: The XC40, Volvo's first fully electric SUV arrived in 2020
  • 2022: Launch of Volvo C40 with its 260 mile range, 408PS twin electric motor setup and 78kWh battery
  • 2025: 50% of Volvo's new cars will be fully electric
  • 2040: Volvo's vision is to be climate neutral across their full value chain
