What is LV= Doctor Services?

Expert medical services for eligible members and customers

  • We know that when it comes to your health you want the best, and as the UK healthcare system continues to change and our lives get even busier, the need for quality, convenient medical advice has never been greater.
  • That’s why we’ve added LV= Doctor Services to selected LV= products*, giving you and your spouse or partner access to a range of services. 
  • You’ll get fast and convenient access to six expert medical services provided by Square Health in one simple, easy to use app or by phone request – to help you to look after your health, whatever your medical concern, wherever you are.

Remote GP

Our Remote GP service gives you and your spouse/partner (living at the same address) 24/7 access and unlimited consultations with a UK doctor to talk through any health issues or medical concerns without travelling to your surgery, or sitting in the waiting room.

Simple, convenient and confidential, it’s quick and easy to get a GP appointment, wherever you are – at home, at work or on holiday.

Open the LV= Doctor Services app, click Remote GP and book your face-to-face video or phone consultation with a qualified UK GP, at a time to suit you.

Appointments are available 24/7 and usually within 2 hours. You can choose from available appointment times provided and please allow 15-20 minutes for your consultation. All GPs are based in the UK and registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

Remote GP can help you get treatment for:

  • colds and flu
  • headaches and migraines
  • back problems
  • serious illnesses
  • sickness and diarrhoea
  • skin rashes and abscesses
  • mental health
  • sports injuries

Your Remote GP will:

  • treat everyday illnesses
  • provide a diagnosis
  • refer you to a specialist

After your appointment, your medical information will be updated in the app so you can refer back to it if you need to. Your medical information will only be shared with your normal GP if you request it.

Second opinion

Our Second Opinion service is here to help you check a diagnosis, clarify any unanswered questions and help you understand your treatment options. It may not mean that your diagnosis is changed, but it could help to provide reassurance that the initial diagnosis is right.

The specialist you select for your consultation can be chosen to best match your diagnosis or medical condition, from a leading network of over 5,000 UK medical Professionals . The Second Opinion service is offered in line with recommendations and advice by the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines.

Simple, convenient and confidential, it's now quick and easy to get a Second Opinion, along with any treatment, wherever you are. And only at your request will your medical information shared with your own GP.

Booking an appointment is easy; simply open the LV= Doctor Services app, click Second opinion and book your face-to-face video or phone consultation at a time to suit you.

Prescriptions

Prescriptions are available when you use Remote GP. The consulting doctor is able to prescribe medicines in the same way as your local doctor. Using our Prescription service to get the medication you need or start a course of treatment is:

  • convenient - the prescription can be posted to you or sent to a local pharmacy for you to collect
  • fast - no waiting time spent at your surgery, so you can get the medication you need and fast

Once you agree to a course of treatment in your Remote GP appointment, your GP will give you a private prescription. You just need to choose whether you want your prescription:

  • posted to you
  • sent direct to a local pharmacy for you to collect in 1-2 hours
  • or you can opt to have the private prescription medication delivered to your home or an address you specify. If you choose this option, it’s sent recorded delivery for a fixed fee of £10.

As these are private prescriptions, you will need to pay for the prescription medicine. Your consulting GP will guide you through the medication costs and if applicable, the delivery fee. No exemptions are valid with this service e.g. free prescriptions for people over 65.

If appropriate, the GP can also prescribe a sick note or referral letter for a fixed fee of £15

Prescription Services is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Remote Physiotherapy

Remote Physiotherapy gives you and your spouse/partner access to up to 5 remote sessions (per year)* with a qualified physiotherapist, with no need for GP referral.

An initial video assessment is arranged through the app, at a time that suits you, where your physiotherapist will develop a treatment plan to help you get back on your feet.

Your physiotherapist can provide you support on a number of areas including:

  • Back pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprains
  • Trapped nerves
  • Tight muscles

Treatment may involve exercises -  your physiotherapist can send you an information pack with equipment such as foam rollers and exercise bands to support your treatment.

*Where an appointment cap per year is applied, this is shared with your spouse/partner.

Remote Psychological services

Dedicated care is available for any mental health concerns you or your partner/spouse may have. Through the app you can arrange an initial session with a qualified professional who can assess your needs and develop a tailored treatment programme. You’re able to benefit from 5 remote sessions per year*, at no additional cost. 

Treatment may include counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) as well as other mental health treatments. You may also get referred for a face to face consultation if your therapist feels this is beneficial.

Emotional and behavioural support is available on a range of issues including:

  • Anxiety, panic and phobia
  • Depression
  • Substance abuse
  • Obsessive compulsive behaviour
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Sleep disorders
  • Eating disorders

Discounted health MOTs

As part of LV= Doctor Services, you and your spouse/partner are able to benefit from 25% off health MOTs. A health MOT is an overall assessment of your health, and includes tests such as blood pressure checks and vital organ analysis. Your result shows you your current health, potential risks, and identifies ways you can improve your health.

You can choose from three different health MOTs which vary in price and comprehension - LV= Snapshot, LV= Well, and LV= Well+.

How to register

Getting set up couldn't be easier.

  • You can register for LV= Doctor Services after your policy starts.
  • Simply download the LV= Doctor Services app to your smartphone via your usual app provider.
  • Complete your personal details in the LV= Doctor Services app.
  • Then you'll all be set up and ready to use the services. For the discounted health MOTs you’ll need to call Square Health on 0330 8221 776.

If you don't have a compatible smartphone, you can contact Square Health on 0330 8221 776 to register for this service. Your spouse/partner will also need to register and download the app to use the services and where an appointment cap per year is applied, this is shared with the policyholder or person insured.

You can choose an appointment between 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) and 9am – 1pm Saturdays at a time to suit you.

Eligibility

If you have purchased one of the following policies then you are entitled to LV= Doctor Services

*The following products bought after 6 June 2017 are included:

  • Life Protection, Combined Life and Critical Illness, Income Protection, Personal Sick Pay, Mortgage and Rent Cover, Family Income Benefit, Family Income Assurance and Gift Inter Vivos bought through an independent financial adviser.
  • LV= 50+ plan, Life Protection or Life with Critical Illness bought directly with LV=.

The following products bought after 1 November 2017 are included:

  • Flexible Transitions Account, Protected Retirement Plan, Lifetime Mortgage Lump Sum and Lump Sum+, Lifetime Mortgage Drawdown+, Flexible Lifetime Mortgage, Flexible Guarantee Bond, Flexible Guarantee Funds, LV= ISA and Smoothed Managed Funds Bond Series 1.

The following products bought after 3 September 2018 are included for the life assured:

  • Key Person Cover, Share & Partnership Protection, Relevant Life Cover and Executive Income Protection.

LV= Doctor Services is a non-contractual benefit and can be changed or removed at any time.

Your children up to age 16 are covered for the Remote GP, Prescription Services and Second Opinion services, where you are the parental guardian. Your spouse/partner is covered for all six services providing they live at the same address.
