Data Protection

Wondering what we do with your information?

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA

We take the security and management of your personal information seriously

  • That’s why we invest in our systems and processes to ensure that the way we collect, use, share, and store your information meets both the regulatory and our own high standards.
  • The Data Protection Statements explain how we collect, use and store your personal information. This includes any personal information given to us about other people named on the policy, quote or claim. If you’d like a printed copy, please contact us.

Companies House and the Member Register

How we handle your data now we're a company limited by guarantee.

On 2 January 2020 we converted to a company limited by guarantee. Prior to that we were a friendly society. This change to our legal status means that we must follow a new set of standards. These obligations are set out in the Companies Act which now governs our business.

Any company that is listed with Companies House must maintain a register of its members. At the point we converted (2 January 2020) we were required to provide Companies House with a copy of that register of members. The information we shared with Companies House contained only the names and addresses of our members.

The Companies Act requires us to maintain a record of all our members at a given point in time. This register contains the names and addresses of our members. Anyone, with a legitimate reason, may ask to inspect the Member Register.
