We've partnered with Family Action

At LV=, we help people to look after what they love in life, and we know the importance of providing support to our customers when they need us most – whether that’s getting them back on the road, secure in their home or returned safely from a trip abroad.

But we want to do even more to support our customers and communities through difficult times, putting our heart into building better lives.

Our charity partner is Family Action

We’re proud to partner with Family Action who have been building stronger families since 1869, and today work with over 60,000 families through over 160 community-based services.

The Heart to Heart is our initiative to support and encourage people to talk about their family pressures and reach out to FamilyLine if they’re struggling. Family Action’s national helpline, FamilyLine supports adult family members via telephone, text, email and web chat. They’re there to provide a listening ear, answer particular parenting questions or help with guidance around more complex issues.

Our three-year partnership between LV= General Insurance and Family Action will support the charity’s work transforming the lives of families facing difficulties across the UK.

"Supporting charity and community has always been close to our hearts. And helping people look after what they love, includes our community. We’re partnering with Family Action to help raise awareness of this fantastic cause and be the chance for everyone at LV= General Insurance to show their heart. For our family to make a difference to others".

Heather Smith, Managing Director – Retail, LV=

FamilyLine, supported by LV=

Family pressures can be difficult to manage without emotional support and guidance to help. The free FamilyLine service offers a confidential service to families by using a network of volunteers from across the country to support people over the age of 18 through telephone calls, email, web chat and text message.

FamilyLine, supported by LV= helps families and individuals to navigate complex family issues and give guidance and advice. This type of support is more important than ever, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, Family Action have seen demand for their FamilyLine service increase dramatically.

Family resilience and COVID-19

To understand more about the impacts of COVID on families, we’ve produced a report with Family Action, Family resilience and COVID-19 which shows:

  • One in five parents have experienced financial difficulties during the pandemic, with over one in four expecting their personal finances to get worse over the next year
  • Two in five parents say their mental health and wellbeing is worse than a year ago, with a third feeling less confident
  • One in 10 – around two million – feel less effective as a parent as a result and 16% say their relationship with their partner has deteriorated

How we’re supporting FamilyLine

Over the next three years, we’re supporting FamilyLine in three ways:

  • A financial donation to secure the continuation of the FamilyLive service and growth of new services
  • Volunteering opportunities for our people to sign up as a FamilyLine volunteer, befriender or mentor
  • Fundraising events for our people, as well as charity matching the money raised

Donate to Family Action

Thousands of families are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country, and Family Action’s work is not possible without the generosity of supporters.
