Income Protection FAQ's

What is misrepresentation?

Misrepresentation is when someone doesn’t tell us important and relevant information about their health or lifestyle when they apply for their insurance. This also applies if they don’t tell us about a significant change between when they apply, and when their policy starts. For example, someone hasn’t told us in their application form that they’re already being treated for a particular disease, or illness. If this happens, we may not pay out for a claim, we may reduce the amount we pay if you claim, or may cancel the policy (for example if had we known about the missing information we would not have been able to offer you insurance in the first place). If you complete the application form truthfully and accurately then you won't have any problems. If you would like a copy of your application form then please ask.
