LV= announces charity partnership with Trussell

Investment, protection, in-house advice and retirement specialist LV= has partnered with anti-poverty charity, Trussell, to support their work to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank to survive.

Founded in 1997, Trussell provides emergency food and practical help to individuals and families left without enough money to live on through their network of more than 1,400 food banks across the country.

With LV= donating more than £30,000 to Trussell through corporate donations and colleague fundraising this year, the two organisations have announced an official partnership to further support local communities, particularly those around LV’s three UK offices in Bournemouth, Exeter and Hitchin, to make a positive and lasting impact.

As part of their great work, Trussell also run a ‘Help through Hardship’ helpline, delivered in partnership with Citizens Advice, providing people with free, phone-based advice on things like social security payments and grants they may be eligible for, as well as guiding them through the claims process and access to a food bank if needed.

The advice provided via this service also covers other topics such as mental health, housing and debt.

Samantha Preece, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at LV=, said:

“We’re delighted to partner with Trussell and support the important work they do. As a proud mutual, we are committed to making a positive and lasting impact in our local community.

Our purpose is to help people to live financially confident lives, and not only does this partnership form an integral part of our sustainability strategy, but it gives us the perfect opportunity to help others as a business, spearheaded by our colleagues, and that means a lot to us.”

“Trussell’s ‘Help through hardship’ helpline is an invaluable service used by many, with a focus around helping address why people are struggling financially, and it’s great our donations will go towards funding this.”

Zoe Pate, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Trussell, said:

"A huge thank you to LV= for supporting Trussell and for their contribution towards our vital Help through Hardship helpline, delivered in partnership with Citizens Advice.

“Our food bank teams continue to work tirelessly to help people who are unable to afford essentials, and it’s down to the generosity of partners like LV= that enables us to keep providing vital emergency support to the communities most in need as we work together to end the need for food banks in the UK.”

As well as LV’s donations helping Trussell fund their helpline, teams from across the business in Bournemouth, Exeter and Hitchin will be volunteering at local Trussell food banks and donating vital supplies via its office collection points.
