At LV=, we have no upper age limit on our single trip insurance, and our multi-trip insurance includes cruises as standard, making it perfect if you have a number of destinations to tick off your list.
There are plenty of perks to travelling when you're that little bit older.
Time to travel for you
For many adults, their younger years are spent on family-friendly holidays. From finding hotels with the best kids’ clubs to managing time away with when the children are off school, planning a trip for the whole family can be stressful. If you’re like most parents and have had your children’s priorities placed well above your own, it’s time to finally reclaim your holidays. Whether you have teenagers that are able to stay at home independently for a week or two – and their idea of fun isn’t spending time with their parents – or your kids have flown the nest completely, you can now enjoy a holiday designed around you. Whatever the reason, embrace over 50s travel and find the perfect getaway.
Does travelling get better with age?
There are plenty of perks to travelling when you’re that little bit older:
- You can travel when you want. You’re not restricted by school summer holidays or the chaotic bank holiday rush
- Learn from experience. You’ve been there, done that, bought the over-priced t-shirt. Now you’ve had plenty of holidays, you know whether you like a jam-packed itinerary, taking it slow by the pool or a combination of both.
- Splurge a little. Hopefully as you turn 50 or beyond your children are less dependent on you financially and you can splash the cash a little more.
- It’s good for you. Holidays are good for your health and allow you to make memories that last a lifetime.
Many older people worry they won’t be able to find affordable travel insurance to visit the places they want to. But this should be the last thing that deters you.
There are many benefits to travelling when you’re older and finding the right travel insurance shouldn’t hold you back from taking on your next adventure.
What kind of travel insurance is right for my trip?
At LV=, we have two types of travel insurance: single trip, and multi trip. The single trip covers you during one holiday; though this can include numerous countries. Whether it’s a last-minute city break, or a summer-long adventure, single trip cover means you don’t have to worry about anything on your travels.
If you’re looking to tick multiple destinations off the Bucket List, then annual travel insurance may be a more cost-effective way of ensuring you’re covered. Maybe you want to book a special getaway for a big birthday, see New Year in a different place, or even go skiing at Christmas, multi-trip cover means your travel insurance is sorted for 12 months.
We want you to feel in control of your travel insurance, so we’re always at the end of the phone if you need us while you’re away, on our 24 hour emergency travel helpline.
Single trip insurance – what you need to know.
There’s no upper age limit on our single trip insurance, but there are some time restrictions dependent on age:
- If you’re under 65 years of age, our single trip cover lasts for 366 days
- For those between 65 and 79 years old, our cover lasts for 90 days
- If you’re aged 80 or over, our single trip insurance covers 31 days
So, if you’re 50 and jetting off on that round the world trip you’ve always dreamt of, you can use our single trip insurance, no problem. However, if you’re older, our annual cover may be more suitable.
