LV= have analysed ONS data to see where people retired to most in the year leading up to June 2021 to give you some inspiration for where you may want to retire to.

The best and most popular place to retire to in the UK is North Yorkshire, followed by Cornwall and then Somerset, according to ONS data on internal migration.

It’s no surprise that North Yorkshire, with the North Work Moors, the northern coast, the Dales, as well as the beautiful historic town of York, takes the top spot, as it offers the joys of rural living mixed with beautiful historic towns.
According to figures published on The Motley Fool in 2025, the average retirement age in the UK is 64.9.
