Insurance FAQs

Are winter sports covered by LV= travel insurance?

The following activities are covered if you add winter sports cover to your travel insurance policy:

  • Skiing (including big foot, cross-country, mono, glacier and indoor)
  • Snowboarding
  • Snowblading
  • Sledging and tobogganing
  • Snowmobiling and skidooing but there is no personal liability cover for these activities

If you add winter sports cover to your single trip policy with us, we’ll cover you for up to 31 days of winter sports per year.

If you add winter sports cover to your annual multi-trip cover, our Essential policy covers a maximum of 17 days of winter sports per year, while our Premier policy will cover a maximum of 31 days per year.

If you're planning a longer trip and would like winter sports cover, or you’d like to add winter sports cover to an existing LV= travel policy, give us a call and we’ll set it up for you.

Am I covered to ski off piste?

Yes. If you’ve added winter sports cover to your LV= travel insurance policy, you’re covered to ski or snowboard off piste as long as you stay within the ski area boundaries of a recognised ski resort and follow the ski patrol guidelines.

Am I covered if bad weather affects my trip?

Yes. If you've selected winter sports cover, we'll pay up to £5,000 on the Essential policy or up to £10,000 on the Premier policy if any excursions or ski/snowboard lessons are cancelled due to poor weather or because there is no snow at your ski resort.

You'll also be covered for the costs of the pre-paid ski lift pass for each day the lifts are not in use (up to the total of £5,000 on the Essential policy or £10,000 on the Premier policy.)
