Your home insurance excess is an amount that you have to pay if you make a claim.
Compulsory excess - this is a fixed excess, set by your insurer, which you'll have to pay if you make a claim. The amount varies depending on your circumstances. Some examples of compulsory excesses are £1,000 for subsidence or £350 for escape of water claims.
We have a minimum excess of £100 for most claims and this can be increased up to £1,000 in return for a lower premium. To find out how much excess you'd need to pay if you claim, please see your insurance documents.
