An immobiliser is either:
- an electronic anti-theft device that helps stop the engine being started. Usually activated when you remove the ignition key or ignition device from the vehicle. Usually factory-fitted by the manufacturer but may be retro-fitted and supplied with certificate of installation; or,
- a manual or mechanical immobiliser. Usually fitted to the steering wheel or manual gear stick
