Siamese personality
With its distinctive looks, the Siamese cat is easily recognised by its black mask and piercing eyes. Originating from Thailand, the Siamese is well known for their voice as they will "talk to you" all day long.
You will need to keep this cat well entertained as they are curious and demanding of your attention, involving themselves in everything that you are doing.
Known for their elegance, the Siamese are excellent climbers and have an inquisitive nature - so if you want one just for their looks, think again, as they will entertain themselves by opening and climbing anything and everything!
Did you know that a pair of Siamese cats made an unforgettable appearance in Disney’s classic, 'Lady and the Tramp'?
Common health problems and illness
Feline asthma
A common condition for this particular breed, feline asthma causes the airways to narrow, making breathing difficult. Look out for symptoms such as laboured breathing and wheezing.
Mouth and gum disease
Like most other cat breeds, Siamese can suffer from gum and dental disease. When food, bacteria and minerals build up along the gum line, this can cause a build-up of tartar which can then cause small pockets of space for the bacteria to grow, which will eventually result in periodontal disease.
