Our advice process

Our tried and tested process follows three simple steps

It all starts with a chat

Call us for a free conversation, with no obligation. We’ll listen to you to understand what you’re hoping to achieve with your pension.

You’ll be allocated your own adviser to work with you from start to finish.

Our fees will be explained to you clearly and simply.

We’ll send you a welcome pack and some simple questionnaires, this will help us get to know you.

    Research and recommendation

    Your adviser will have a conversation with you to gather information and discuss your needs and objectives in detail. This will give us a clear picture of your circumstances and what you are trying to achieve.

    We will undertake a full review of all your personal, financial, and pension information. We’ll pull all this information together to research and recommend the most suitable solution for you.

    Your personalised plan will be presented and explained in a report, which we will send to you.

    It’s important that you fully understand our recommendations, so we’ll arrange a time to explain the report and ensure you are clear what we are advising you to do. It’s always ok to ask us questions.

      Set up your products

      When you’re ready to proceed, we'll action any recommendations that we have made.

      We’ll set everything up for you and keep you informed.

        Fees and charges

        We know how important it is to watch the pennies, so we make advice more accessible by offering our initial consultation and, in most cases your advice report and explanation for free.

        If you choose to proceed with our recommendations then we will charge you a fee, it will be explained clearly right at the start.

        We’re pleased to say that we can usually deduct the fee from your pension; this is tax-efficient and can be more convenient than paying the fee directly.

        There are some specific circumstances where we do charge an upfront fee, if this applies to you it will be explained clearly when you contact us.

          Combining your pension pots into one

          Do you know what pensions you have? How much are you paying in charges? Finding it difficult to keep track of them?

          It’s easy to end up with quite a few pensions dotted about here and there. It can often be a good idea to combine them all into one, because:

          • The charges you pay might be significantly less on a new combined pension than on your current pensions.
          • You may find it easier to keep track of what you have and to plan for the future.
          • A new pension may offer other advantages, such as a more suitable choice of investments or more flexible options for accessing your money.

            Defined benefit pension transfer

            We have a number of pension transfer specialists who are trained and qualified to give advice about your defined benefit pension options.

            What does this mean?

            A defined benefit (DB) pension is sometimes known as a final salary or career average pension. It guarantees the amount of income you will get when you retire.

            It is sometimes possible to “transfer out”. This means that the pension is converted into a pot of money which can be moved to a different pension and accessed in a variety of flexible ways.

            If the value of your pension is more than £30,000 then it is a legal requirement to take advice before you can arrange to transfer your pension. This advice can only be given by a specially qualified pension transfer specialist.

            Our pension transfer specialists have lots of experience in this field and the appropriate qualifications and our advice process puts your needs and future security at the heart of our recommendations.

            We will carefully look at all your circumstances, needs and objectives and advise whether you should stay in your DB pension or transfer out into a different pension.
