Below is a list of car insurance optional extras that you can add on to your UK car insurance cover.
Motor Legal Expenses cover
We'll pay up to £100,000:
- for your reasonable legal costs to defend a motoring prosecution arising from an incident while you were using your car
- to pursue a civil claim for the recovery of losses due to an accident involving your car including those which result in your death or injury
This extra benefit will cost you £24.90 for the whole year.
Guarantee your Car Insurance No Claims Discount
You can guarantee your No Claims Discount:
- Guaranteeing it will protect it for the life of your car insurance policy no matter how many claims you make. You'll need a minimum of four years NCD to be able to guarantee it
European Car Insurance cover
Get extra car insurance cover for up to 180 days when travelling in EU Countries.
With our car insurance, you'll automatically be covered in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands including while your car is being transported within and between them. You also get the minimum compulsory insurance cover required to drive in the European Union.
However, this won't cover loss or damage to your car for comprehensive and third party fire and theft car insurance policyholders while travelling outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. For all car insurance policyholders (including third party) the level of third party liability may not be as great as in the UK.
You can choose to extend this cover to give the full benefits when you're travelling in EU Countries for up to 180 days, including when your car is being transported, for £19.90 for the year.
Courtesy car
For £14.90 for the year, we'll give you a guaranteed courtesy car while your car is being repaired (by our selected repairer service). Or for up to 14 days if:
- your car is damaged beyond cost effective repair and cannot be driven
- has been stolen and not recovered
We'll also insure the courtesy car for you; you'll only have to pay for the fuel.
A courtesy car isn't available to third party only car insurance policyholders.
Increased personal accident cover up to £100,000
Personal accident covers you, your husband / wife or civil partner if they suffer an injury while travelling in, or getting in or out of any car.
- if the injury results in death, loss of sight or loss of limbs, our standard, comprehensive insurance will pay £10,000
- for a small additional premium on your car insurance policy you can increase this cover to £100,000
This is only available if you're taking out comprehensive car insurance cover and will cost £19.90 for the year.
Road Rescue breakdown cover
You can choose from five levels of breakdown cover that you can add to your car insurance policy:
- Roadside Assist
- Roadside & Home Assist
- UK Recovery
- UK Recovery and Home Assist
- UK & European Assist
