How we fight car insurance fraud
At LV= we work hard to give you great car insurance cover at an excellent price while dealing with your claims as quickly as we can. We also want to make our claims process as easy as possible for you.

Sadly there are people who try to defraud us by making false or exaggerated car insurance claims, or by lying about who they are or their driving history.
People like this make car insurance more expensive for genuine, honest customers, so we do everything we can to stop them.
For example, we check all new car insurance policies and claims for fraud against various databases.
To guard against car insurance fraud, we use:
- the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE): has the details of most car and home insurance claims and is run by Insurance Database Services Ltd.
- Insurance Hunter: designed to stop crimes like identity theft and money laundering
- the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register: has details of all stolen and written-off vehicles
- the Motor Insurance Database (MID): designed to cut down on the number of uninsured drivers and used by the police to find out who is insured to drive a particular car
Using this technology helps us keep our prices low and our car insurance fair for everyone.
If we find anything unusual or think someone has deliberately given us false information we'll look into it and, if necessary, we'll report it to the police. This sometimes leads to criminal prosecutions and convictions for fraud.
We really appreciate your cooperation in helping us to prevent and detect insurance fraud. If you'd like to know more or speak to us about fraud please call us.
