Restricting or blocking cookies in your browser
All browsers have options to either block all cookies or just third party cookies. You can also set most browsers to block or allow cookies from all websites, or just the ones you want.
All browsers have quick and easy options to delete cookies and many can even be set so they delete cookies when you close your browser.
How to adjust your browser to block cookies
Click the 'Cog' button (version 9) or the Tools menu (version 8). Click Internet Options, then click the Privacy tab and move the slider to block or allow some or all types of cookie.
Click the 'Spanner' button on the toolbar and click Settings. Click the 'Under the bonnet' tab, then click the Content Settings button. In the privacy section, tick the box marked Block sites from setting any data.
From the tools menu or Firefox button, bring up Options. Click the Privacy tab and in the History section, click the dropdown menu and select Use custom settings for history. Un-tick the box marked Accept cookies from sites.
Click the 'Cog' button on the top right of your browser and click Preferences. Click the Privacy tab and select your options from the Block cookies radio buttons.
Click the Opera button, point to Settings and click Preferences. Click the Advanced tab and click Cookies from the list of options on the left and you'll see a list of the choices available.
How to delete cookies from your browser
In version 9, click the 'Cog' button, point to Safety and then click Delete browsing history. In version 8, click the Tools menu and then click Delete browsing history. Tick the box marked Cookies.
Click the 'Spanner' button on the toolbar and click Settings. Click the 'Under the bonnet' tab, then click the Clear browsing data button. Select your timescale from the dropdown menu and tick the box marked Delete cookies and other site plug-in data.
Click the Firefox button, point to History and click Clear recent history or click the Tools menu and click Clear recent history. Select your timescale from the dropdown menu and click the Clear Now button.
Click the 'Cog' button on the top right of your browser and click Preferences. Click the Privacy tab and click the Details button. Select the cookies you want to delete and click the Remove button or click the Remove all button.
Click the Opera button, point to Settings and click Delete Private Data. Click the Detailed Options dropdown, tick the Delete all cookies box and click the Delete button.
Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox - On a PC you can bring up the menu to delete cookies and other browsing data by the pressing [Ctrl] [Shift] and [Delete] keys together.
On a Mac use [Cmd] [Shift] and [Delete]in Chrome an Firefox
