Sick Pay Insurance Existing Customers

We no longer sell Sick Pay Insurance but here is some information for existing customers.

When we'll pay out your Sick Pay Insurance

We want to make sure you understand exactly when we will and will not pay out.

To help you understand, ask yourself the following question:

In the two years before you set up your Sick Pay Insurance had you:

  • had symptoms of, or treatment for, a specific medical condition?
  • been told, as the result of medical investigations or tests, that you are at risk of developing a specific medical condition in the future?

If your answer to either of these is 'yes', then you won’t be covered for that specific medical condition until you have been symptom or treatment free, and have not needed a follow up appointment about it, for two years after your cover started.

However, the good news is you’re covered for all other medical conditions or accidents, from day one!

Our promise

We promise if you become unwell and need to claim we will only ask your doctor or specialist about the specific condition you're claiming for. We don't take into account things like:

  • general family history discussions
  • any genetic tests where you didn’t already have symptoms of the medical condition
  • general medical advice like ‘you should give up smoking’ or ‘you should lose some weight’ or ‘you should get more exercise’.

How do I make a claim?

The easiest way to make a claim is to call us on the number below, or email us with your contact number. You can always write to us, but it’s not as quick.

You’ll just need to let us know your policy number, the type of illness or accident that stopped you from working, the date it started or happened and your contact number.

We’ll then get in touch with your doctor to confirm you’re too unwell to work in your job. We’ll help you through your claim and get it all sorted for you as quickly as possible.

Are there any jobs you don’t cover?

We cover nearly every type of job – in fact there are only 5 job types we can’t cover, which are the Armed Forces, or any kind of Diver, Miner, Fisherman or Professional Sportsperson. So if you move to one of them after you have set up your cover, then unfortunately we can’t cover you.

How long can I keep my Sick Pay Insurance for?

The maximum age you can keep it to is age 70, or until you retire. You can cancel it at any time.

How can I change my personal or payment details?

When you set up your Sick Pay Insurance, we sent you a link to your own personal customer hub where you can log in and update most of your personal details.

However, if it’s easier, you can always call us on 0800 681 6285 where we’re happy to do this for you.

Can my partner be added to my Sick Pay Insurance?

Sick Pay Insurance is designed for individuals, so you can’t add people to your own individual cover.

Member benefit – Member Care Line

With your Sick Pay Insurance, you get free access to our Member Care Line. It’s available 24 hours a day to provide telephone counselling on a range of subjects including health and legal matters.

For example, if you’re worried about an aspect of your health or would like to speak to a counsellor about the way you feel, qualified nurses and experienced counsellors are available to take your call day or night

We also have a legal advice service which specialises in the following categories of law:

  • Employment - unfair dismissal, redundancy and discrimination
  • Family law - child maintenance, divorce and domestic violence
  • General law - civil litigation, motoring offences, debt advice and personal injury
  • Property - nuisance neighbours, home purchase and access rights
  • Private - client wills, trusts, powers of attorney and probate
