Pensions and Retirement Frequently Asked Questions

What if I want to move?

Answer

A lifetime mortgage is a long-term commitment, therefore if you are considering moving / downsizing in the near future equity release may not provide the best outcome.  If you are unsure we would recommend you discuss your situation with your adviser.

However, if you decide to move, you may be able to transfer your lifetime mortgage with you, subject to your new property meeting our lending criteria.

We'll allow you to transfer your lifetime mortgage to a smaller property which meets our lending criteria, however we may ask you to make a partial repayment to allow the transfer of the mortgage to take place.

We won't charge you any penalties if we request you to repay part of the loan early because you're moving. Please note that you'll have to meet the actual costs of moving home.
