Fairmead Insurance FAQs
Here's what you need to know about LV='s purchase of Fairmead Insurance Limited
Fairmead Insurance Limited was bought by Liverpool Victoria General Insurance Group (LV= GI) in January 2020.
You might have some questions about what this means for you, and how it may impact your insurance. Our FAQs below should help you get the answers you're looking for.
In 2021, Fairmead under the L&G brand wrote to some customers to apologise for an error in the amount of interest added to their monthly insurance policy payments. A cheque to refund this additional interest was enclosed with that letter. Our records show that some of these cheques have still not been cashed, so we’re writing to these customers to follow up.
If you've cashed the cheque already, you don't need to do anything. Otherwise, please pay it into your bank account. If you don’t have the cheque, or if you have any questions about this, please call us on 0370 145 0011 and we'll get it sorted. Our opening hours are Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm. For Text Phone first dial 18001. Calls will be recorded.
Fairmead Insurance Limited, was bought by LV= in January 2020. As a result, the Fairmead Group no longer provide home insurance policies. Your existing policy remains in place with Fairmead Insurance Limited, until you receive your LV= renewal.
Fairmead will continue to focus on the other areas of their business, such as Investments, Pensions and Life Cover.
We will clearly outline any improvements or changes in your cover in letters that we send you ahead of your renewal, and again when you receive your LV= renewal quote. Please read through your renewal quote and make sure it still meets your needs.
There will be no changes to your current policy until it ends.
You will receive a renewal quote, one month before your policy is due to end.
When your renewal quote arrives, it will include all of the information on how to renew with LV=, which can be done either online or by calling the phone number on your LV= renewal documents.
Please check your renewal quote through, if you need to make any changes to your policy or to pay for your policy - simply get in touch using the phone number on your quote.
You can continue to make simple changes to your current policy at any time, by calling us on 0330 678 5206*. For significant changes such as address changes, our friendly advisers will be able to support you in getting the right policy.

We are making some changes to our direct debits as we transition to LV=. But you don’t need to do anything:
- Your Direct Debit reference may change if you have a Fairmead Policy which renews after November 2022. We’re changing the collection name that appears on your bank/Building society statement to “Fairmead” rather than “Fairmead L&G” You don’t need to set up a new Direct Debit.
- When your policy renews with LV=, the only change you will notice is that LV= will collect your Direct Debits and the payment reference will appear as “LVIC” on your Bank/Building Society statement.
If you have a query on your current policy, call the number on your existing policy documents.
We have access to all details of Fairmead and LV= customer polices so will be able to help you.
If your policy has ended and your new LV= policy has started, you will speak to our friendly people at LV=. Just call us on the number on your renewal documents.
The claims process hasn't changed for customers who already have a claim open, or who need to make a claim under their existing policy. Please continue to speak with your current dedicated personal case manager, who will be happy to help.
We’ve written to any open claims to let you know that LV= has delegated authority to manage those claims, so the only real difference you’ll notice is us calling ourselves LV=.
If you need to make a claim, call your dedicated claims line.
Our friendly people at LV= will have details of your account and Fairmead home insurance policy.
We currently have access to your details so we can process your claims in an efficient manner and give you the best service we can.
We will also provide you with a renewal quote if your policy is due to end soon. Remember, if your policy ends and you have not renewed with us or set up a new policy elsewhere, your home will not be insured. If you decide not to stay with us, simply get in touch and let us know. If you don’t renew your policy with LV=, we’ll still have access to records relating to your previous policy, as we’re under a legal obligation to do so.
