LV= Insurance - official test & county championship partners - are on a mission to reunite grassroots cricket communities up and down the UK.

With that aim in mind, last summer cricket clubs were encouraged to engage with their local community as part of the LV= Insurance Big Cricket Tea.

More than 50 cricket clubs across the country signed up and LV= Insurance provided tools, branding and event ideas with the opportunity to also apply for the ECB Inspired to Play Grant to help pay for afternoon teas, cakes, etc.

The LV= Insurance Big Cricket Tea aimed to encourage those who might not usually watch their local club to come down, see cricket at the heart of their community and create a lasting community relationship.

At each event a national raffle was held with incredible prizes to help clubs raise funds, donated by LV= Insurance, such as a visit to an England Men’s training session at Lord’s, tickets to the Ashes or an England Women’s player visiting their school.

Barnston Primary School, who took part in last year’s LV= Insurance Big Cricket Tea, were the winners of the school appearance and were surprised by England’s star opener Emma Lamb earlier this year. She fielded questions from the children and spoke of her love for the game, her drive to win and how she’d compete in her brother’s cricket team from a young age.

She also offered some coaching lessons for the children, and shared tips on how they could improve their batting technique and overall game.

The Big Cricket Tea is also back for 2023 across the weekend of the first LV= Insurance Men’s Ashes Test (16th – 18th June) and you can still sign up by e-mailing [email protected]
