Prescription Services

Access to GPs who can prescribe medicines in the same way as your local doctor.

This service goes hand-in-hand with Remote GP, in that during your GP consultation, the doctor may offer you a private prescription for a recommended course of treatment.

How does it work?

When you use Remote GP, the consulting doctor is able to prescribe medicines in the same way as your local doctor. Once you agree to a course of treatment they will give you a private prescription, and you just need to choose whether you want your prescription:

Two pills
  • emailed to you
  • posted to you (first-class)
  • or sent direct to a local pharmacy for you to collect

Prescriptions sent directly to a pharmacy for you to collect are usually available in 1-2 hours.

Although there is no charge for using this service, upon collection you’ll need to pay for the prescription medicine as this is a private prescription service. Your consulting GP will guide you through any costs. No exemptions are valid with this service.

Why use Prescription Services?

Getting medication and starting a recommended course of treatment is:

  • convenient – the prescription will be emailed, posted or sent to a pharmacy near you for collection
  • fast – no waiting time spent at your surgery, so you can get the medication you need and fast
  • sick note – if appropriate, the GP can prescribe a sick note for a fixed fee of £15

Prescription Services is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
