Congratulations to Henry Slade of Exeter Chiefs, winner of the LV= Young Player of the Year Award at the 2015 RPA Awards. Henry wasn’t able to attend the awards ceremony in person so his team mate Phil Dollman picked up the award on his behalf presented by ex-England International Simon Shaw and our General Insurance Retail Business Director Andrew Beard.

The following is a copy of the transcript from the video of Henry Slade accepting his award.

DM - Dean Mumm

HS - Henry Slade

DM - Congratulations, LV= Young Player of the Year Henry Slade, well done mate.

HS - Cheers mate, thanks very much.

HS – It’s a huge honour to receive the award, especially because it’s voted by my peers and the players you play against each week so, that’s probably the greatest honour you can get and I’m really pleased to receive it.

It’s been a really good year, the last 12 months there’s been quite a few of us young boys coming through at the same time and we’ve all sort of come through the same system, we all used to live together and then went on loan and now we’ve come back in to Exeter and started to be in the Premiership side and it’s really nice to be playing and coming through with your mates, but there’s also as well as us young boys there’s quite a few older heads in there like Dean and a few others boys in there as well that have really sort of guided us along and have been really good for us and I think the mix we’ve had has been really good.

It’s been a massive season for us at Exeter, I mean it’s our first sort of go at getting into the top four going into the season and we’ve had another good run in the LV= Cup, got to the final, our first European semi as well so we’ve been moving forward on all fronts I think that’s been really positive for us but this weekend, we’ve got a tough game against Sale I mean they’ve still got a lot to play for with top six so they’re going to come down here wanting to bring it so we’re going to be have to be right on our game to do the job so we’re looking forward to it.
