South West children’s charity wins LV= Broker minibus

A children’s hospice charity in the South West of England is set to benefit from receiving a brand new minibus after winning LV= Brokers’ BIG HEART Charity Giveaway.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which provides respite and specialist care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families, won the LV= Broker minibus through an online vote by the insurer’s broker partners after it was nominated by South West broker, Higos Insurance Services.

CHSW will use the minibus for a variety of different activities, with the charity’s ‘Sibling Team’, which looks after the brothers and sisters of the life-limited children who are residents at the hospice, using it for day trips to the zoo or cinema. Many of these children can feel left out and don’t often get the chance to enjoy trips such as this due to the pressures their families are under with caring for a poorly child. The new minibus will ensure many more children will not miss out on these excursions.

The children’s hospice was one of four UK charities nominated by insurance brokers for LV= Broker’s third annual BIG HEART Charity Giveaway. The intermediary arm of the UK’s most trusted insurer LV=, LV= Broker invited all its broker partners to nominate a local charity which they felt deserved to win the minibus. A shortlist of four UK charities was put forward for brokers to vote for their preferred option, with Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) receiving the most votes. Once it has been fully customised for their needs, the minibus will be presented to hospice staff by Mike Crane, Managing Director of LV= Broker.

The insurer is also donating £500 to the three runners-up – East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, A&M Scotland and Centre Stage. And for every vote registered the insurer has also donated £1 to WellChild, the National UK children's charity helping to get seriously ill children out of hospital and cared for at home with their families.

Mike Crane, Managing Director, LV= Broker commented: “Over the summer our brokers had the opportunity to nominate and vote for a charity close to their hearts in our BIG HEART Charity Giveaway, with Children’s Hospice South West the overall winner. At LV= we’re committed to helping people look after what they love and we’re delighted to be able to support a charity which provides such an invaluable service to children and local families when they need it most.”

Naomi Dymond, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at CHSW added: “Children's Hospice South West is dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives. We are absolutely thrilled to win this fabulous minibus following our nomination by local broker Higos Insurance Services and would like to thank LV= Broker and the brokers who voted for us. The minibus will make a huge difference, helping us to support even more children and their families in the local area.”
