‘Tis the season to boost home contents cover by 10%

With the festive season almost upon us, Brits are likely to have more valuable contents in their home than at other times of the year with gifts, extra food and drink all adding up.

Having adequate contents cover during this time helps provide peace of mind and means you can focus on enjoying the festivities rather than worrying about things going wrong - which is why LV= is automatically adding 10% uplift to its home insurance customers over the Christmas period[1]. The increase, applied for one month before and after Christmas Day, ensures you’re adequately covered throughout the holiday season.

Insurers receive thousands of claims for loss or damage to home contents in the run up to and after Christmas every year, with the most common claims being accidental damage, water leaks caused by pipes freezing and bursting, storm damage and theft².

Selwyn Fernandes, Managing Director of LV= home insurance, said: “Home insurance is often the last thing on your mind while you’re enjoying the festive season. However sometimes things do go wrong so it’s best to be prepared. With our free 10% increase in cover over the Christmas period we want to give our home contents customers the gift of ‘peace of mind’, should the worst happen at home this Christmas.”

LV= home insurance, is a five star Defaqto rated product and includes, as standard, accidental damage cover for your TVs, DVD players, games consoles and computers. It also includes £1,000 cover for your digital downloads such as music and movies.

[1] The contents uplift applies to the overall sum insured. E.g. if you have £20,000 worth of contents cover it will increase to £22,000.
