Tim Rourke appointed head of personal lines underwriting at LV= Broker

Press release: 19/10/2015

Tim Rourke has been promoted to head of personal lines underwriting at LV= Broker, effective from 1 November 2015. He will be responsible for the insurer's standard motor and home lines.

Currently head of broker pricing, Tim joined LV= from Ageas 18 months ago. With over 10 years' experience in the insurance industry, his earlier career included roles at Standard Life and LV=, where he started his career as a trainee actuary.

Tim replaces LV= Broker current head of personal lines underwriting Elspeth Hackett, who is leaving the insurer for a new role in the industry.

With a strong service ethos at its core, LV='s broker business is a key provider in the personal lines market, offering home and motor products. In total, LV= Broker has over 1.2 million policies in force and last year delivered a profit of £46 million.

Michael Lawrence, personal lines director, LV= Broker said:

"Tim is an excellent talent and we look forward to him becoming our new head of personal lines underwriting. In his 18 months with LV= Broker, Tim, as head of broker pricing, has become a real asset to the personal lines exec team, bringing his extensive knowledge and experience to the role. He'll be playing a key role in the next stage of LV= Broker's development. Succession planning is a high priority for LV= and we continue to have a strong and experienced management team at all levels running the LV= Broker business.

"This great news is tinged with some sadness as it's due to the departure of Elspeth Hackett that this role has become available. During her eight years at LV=, Elspeth has played a key role in the development of both ABC and LV= Broker's personal lines underwriting – she will be sorely missed by her LV= colleagues. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Elspeth for all her hard work and commitment to LV= during this time and wish her every success in her new role."

Tim Rourke said:

"My first 18 months at LV= Broker has flown by and I'm looking forward to the move from pricing to head of personal lines underwriting. It may be a new role, but my priorities remain the same: ensuring we're the first port of call for brokers with great products that deliver what their customers need."
