Simon Stevens Appointment

Press release: 25/06/2009

LV= today announced it has appointed Simon Stevens to head up its road rescue arm Britannia Rescue.

Simon will be responsible for day-to-day management of Britannia Rescue and identifying opportunities to expand the company going forward. He will report into LV=’s operations director Peter Horton, and will be based in Britannia Rescue’s head office in Huddersfield.

Simon has a wealth of experience in the financial services sector and has held a number of senior roles in the industry including positions at both HBOS and Churchill. Most recently Simon was the managing director of Uinsure, an internet insurance intermediary for mortgage brokers and IFAs. Prior to this, Simon spent eight years at HBOS and held a range of positions, including that of deputy CEO of the general insurance division.

Britannia Rescue is the UK’s fourth largest road rescue provider and was acquired by LV= in May 2007. It operates an independent network of over 500 garages meaning its rescue agents reach 92% of breakdowns within one hour, one of the best performance records in the industry. It has recently won a new partnership with the supermarket and financial services provider ASDA to provide a range of road rescue products.

Commenting on his appointment, Simon said: “I am very pleased to be joining the LV= Group at such an exciting time. Britannia Rescue has a fantastic heritage and I am looking forward to taking the company to the next level. I have lots of experience in developing businesses and I see plenty of opportunities for Britannia Rescue to expand its business whilst maintaining its respected customer-focused philosophy.”

Peter Horton, operations director of LV= general insurance, commented:
“I am delighted Simon has joined to head up the Britannia Rescue team in Huddersfield. He brings a wealth of operational experience from other companies in the financial sector and I am confident he will make a great leader for Britannia Rescue.”
