LV= wins company secretarial team at ICSA awards

Press release: 14/11/2014

Insurance, investment and retirement group LV= has won the company secretarial team of the year award at the coveted ICSA Awards. The ICSA Excellence in Governance Awards celebrates the highest standards in governance, rewarding individuals, teams and organisations for their achievements. LV= was up against competition from companies including Ageas UK and Thales.

The team won the award on the strength of its significant activity which went above and beyond its daily work. The judges noted the commerciality of the team in using its company secretarial skills to solve commercial problems for the wider LV= business and the team’s establishment of a board charter. The award was also made on the basis of the company’s commitment to member communications, complying with PLC standards for announcement and corporate governance reporting.

The team’s commitment to encourage the group’s gender diversity and involvement with the South Coast Company Secretary Forum also made it stand out.

The team is seven people strong and is headed up by Rachel Small, Group Company Secretary, deputised by Andrew Johnson. Rachel additionally oversees LV=’s in-house legal team.

It’s fantastic to win this award. We’ve invested a huge amount of time and effort in developing the secretariat function at LV= and this award demonstrates the professionalism we have in the team. Excellent governance is very important in a group like ours, which operates in the highly regulated financial services industry, and myself and the team take pride in ensuring that we take a commercial view in our work to ensure that all we do supports the needs of the business.
