LV= is batting for charity

Press release: 18/06/2012

LV=, sponsor of the County Championship is launching a new charity initiative with the help of a number of high profile cricketers.

The initiative will see players from across the County Championship display an LV= sticker on their cricket bats for the duration of the season. In return LV= will donate £250 to the charity of the cricketers’ choosing.

Cricketers already signed up include Worcestershire’s Vikram Solanki who has nominated Megan Baker House as his chosen charity, Mark Ramprakash of Surrey will display the sticker in support of Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow and Gloucestershire’s Jonathan Batty will be supporting the Shooting Star Chase -The Ben Hollioake Fund.

Jonathan Batty’s chosen charity, The Ben Hollioake Fund, was set up after the death of former England and Surrey cricketer Ben Hollioake in 2002. The fund is part of Shooting Star Chase, a charity that cares for families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition. The Ben Hollioake fund hopes to set up a centre in London and expand the support the charity offers.

Claire Jeromson, Head of Sponsorship at LV=: "It's great to be working alongside the County Championship cricketers to help them support the charities close to their hearts. We wanted to do something a little bit different and hope that the donations made will make a difference to the great work these charities do."

Commenting on the difference the donation will make to Shooting Star Chase, Gemma Wright, Specialist Fundraising Coordinator added: "We are very grateful to the donation made by Jon, it will make a real difference to the work that we do. Jon has been a very vocal supporter of ours for some time but to have him championing our cause on the cricket field is just brilliant. Everyone involved with The Ben Hollioake fund will be cheering Jon on for the rest of the season."
