LV= commits to Women in Finance Charter

Press release: 08/07/2016

LV=, the UK’s most trusted and recommended insurer, has signed up to the Women in Finance Charter, demonstrating its support of the diversity agenda across financial services.

A joint commitment by HM Treasury and signatories, the Women in Finance Charter reflects the Government’s aspiration to see gender balance at all levels across financial services firms and is focussed on building a more fair and balanced industry in partnership with the best businesses in their sector.

LV= has a strong Diversity and Inclusion programme which ensures the business provides inclusive products for its customers, and that the workplace is accessible and inclusive for all. LV= has engaged its employees through forums, such as the PACE¹ network of 800 women, to inform its approach and ensure that real progress is made on this important issue.

The mutual was shortlisted for this year’s British Insurance Awards Diversity category and has also been nominated for the ‘Diverse Company of the Year’ award at the forthcoming 2016 National Diversity Awards. In addition, LV= employee, Debbie Cannon, has also been nominated for the ‘LGBT Role Model Award’².

Julia Tyson, Group Director of HR at LV=, said: “At LV=, we believe fostering a diverse and inclusive culture enables us to better respond to the ever-changing needs of our members and customers. Building a more balanced and fair workforce, with equal representation at all levels, is key to this. It’s great to receive recognition for our commitment to diversity but we know there’s still more to do which is why we’re signing up to the Women in Finance Charter.”

About LV=

LV= employs over 6,000 people and serves over 5.8 million customers with a range of financial products. We are the UK’s largest friendly society and a leading financial mutual.

When we started in 1843 our goal was to give financial security to more than just a privileged few and for many decades we were most commonly associated with providing a method of saving to people of modest means.

Today we follow a similar purpose, helping people to protect and provide for the things they love, although on a much larger scale and through a wide range of financial services including insurance, investment and retirement products. We are currently the UK’s number one brand for Insurance and Investments, according to the 2015 YouGov Brand Index Buzz Rankings.

We offer our services direct to consumers, as well as through IFAs and brokers, and through strategic partnerships with organisations including ASDA and Nationwide Building Society.
