LV= Broker makes further investments in training

Press release: 19/09/2011

Following the launch of its Broker Academy, which is designed to recruit and train the underwriters of the future, LV= Broker has now launched a training initiative to develop the skills and careers of its existing staff. The Leadership Curriculum is a new training programme designed to give staff a bespoke pathway to improve their skills and to support their ongoing development.

David Smith, LV= HR director, said: "LV= Broker is a diverse business made up of eleven operational teams which each have different skills needs, from operational support through to technical underwriting. The new curriculum has been designed to meet the training needs of each team by offering a bespoke combination of training modules for each. The modules include: team based problem solving, time management, presentation training, team motivation, influencing skills, stakeholder mapping, compliance, project management and software skills, among others."

Each team leader will work with the training team to select the modules most appropriate for their staff. Training will be structured for each individual so that they can meet the objectives of their business unit over the next five years. The modules are taught using a variety of teaching methods from face to face classroom style learning, to one-to-one coaching and online learning. Candidates are expected to complete the curriculum within twelve to eighteen months.

Phil Bunker, managing director of LV= Broker, said: "LV= Broker has developed quickly to become a substantial force in the broker market and we are making a valuable return for LV=. However, we know that to continue this level of performance we need to invest in our people to help them grow their own careers as the company grows. There are many opportunities for talented people in a growing business such as ours. The new leadership curriculum is designed to develop the future leaders of the company and ensure that we remain well placed to compete in ever changing market conditions."
