LV= Bristol runs for charity

Press release: 13/09/2011

Six staff from the LV= Bristol office completed the Bristol half marathon this Sunday 11 September to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital appeal.

Brian Kent, Joss Morris, Ami Bishop, Rob Price, Jon Whittle and Andy Parker from LV= all completed the thirteen mile course within three hours. One of the team, Jon Whittle, completed it in just under two hours crossing the finish line with a time of one hour and 57 minutes.

This is the first time that LV= has entered a team in the race and some of the runners had never ran a half marathon before. The team have been training for months leading up to the race and have managed to raise £352.00 for the GOSH appeal so far. They are still collecting money from donors and LV= has agreed to match whatever the team raises for the charity pound for pound.

John O’Roarke, managing director for LV= insurance, said: "Running a half marathon is no mean feat and we are really proud of Brian, Joss, Ami, Rob, Jon and Andy for taking part. Considering this is the first time that some of the team have taken part in an event like this, we are very impressed that they all completed it within three hours."

LV= employs over 4,500 people and serves over four million customers with a range of financial products. We are the UK's largest friendly society and a leading financial mutual.

When we started in 1843 our goal was to give financial security to more than just a privileged few and for many decades we were most commonly associated with providing a method of saving to people of modest means. Today we follow a similar purpose, helping people to protect and provide for the things they love, although on a much larger scale and through a wide range of financial services including insurance, investment and retirement products.

We offer our services direct to consumers, as well as through IFAs and brokers, and through strategic partnerships with organisations such as ASDA, Nationwide Building Society and a range of trades unions.
