Bearwood Primary School redecorated by LV= volunteers

Press release: 22/09/2011

Pupils of the Bearwood Primary School are enjoying newly redecorated school gardens thank to the efforts of local volunteers.

Staff from local employer LV= gave up two days this summer to help restore and maintain the outdoor play areas at the school. The team cleared and weeded the overgrown gardens and repainted the school's much-loved wooden train for the pupils to play on. The volunteers also repainted the external window frames and wooden fences, ready for the start of the new academic year.

Mrs Wendy Govan, Head Teacher of Bearwood Primary and Nursery School, said: "We were delighted to have staff from LV= help out at the school. It is very important that our children have access to a well-cared for learning environment and we will now be able to make greater use of the courtyard garden areas this year."

David Smith, HR director of LV=, said: "As one of the largest employers in the Bournemouth area, it is really important for us to support our local community. We are delighted to be able to help Bearwood Primary out and all the staff involved thoroughly enjoyed the project."

About LV=

LV= employs over 4500 people and serves over four million customers with a range of financial products. We are the UK's largest friendly society and a leading financial mutual.

When we started in 1843 our goal was to give financial security to more than just a privileged few and for many decades we were most commonly associated with providing a method of saving to people of modest means. We offer our services direct to consumers, as well as through IFAs and brokers, and through strategic partnerships with organisations such as ASDA, Nationwide Building Society and a range of trades unions.
