Blog - Why it’s important to invest in our people

If you truly want your organisation to gain and retain a competitive advantage, then investing in your people at all times is vital. And it becomes even more important when the organisation is seeking to grow or change rapidly. 

At LV= General Insurance, we recognise that the world is changing and we’re looking to change with it. In order to do that, we know that it’s not just about changing processes and operations and adopting new technologies; it’s also about investing in our people to ensure they can join us on the journey. 

That’s why we have recently launched our Digital Transformation Academy, an internally focused programme which encompasses a series of opportunities to help our employees learn new skills or gain qualifications within the technology and digital sectors. 

As part of the programme, we’re offering our employees apprenticeships, secondments and a course enabling our senior leaders to develop their understanding of what the digital future will look like.  The apprenticeships and secondments cover a range of roles including Software Developers, Software Testers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Content Producers, Digital Marketer and Data Analysts, so there are plenty of opportunities for our people. 

These are just a few examples of the activities that we have in store for our Transformation Academy and there is much more to come. 

We view this investment in our people as critical to our success. If we truly want to embrace digital and ensure our company creates great products and services for our customers, then we need our people to thrive. 

The way we see it, our digital journey will only succeed if we invest in our people and help them to become our true agents of change.
