Children in Need: We had a bear-illiant time

3 minutes

Whether it’s a bake sale, dressing up, or holding a quiz, there’s nothing more our people enjoy than raising money for a good cause.

That’s why mid-November’s always a big date in the calendar as we not only get involved in fundraising for Children In Need, but we volunteer as one of their official call centres. This year marked our twelfth year and it was certainly a good one.

We put the fun into fundraising

Children in Need’s an event which encourages all 14 of our offices to get involved as our local community committees take the reins, along with Pudsey, to come up with various ways to raise some cash. This year we had raffles, tombolas, novelty cake competitions, bingo, quizzes, silent auctions and plenty of fancy dress. Some of our people even took Pudsey out to some local schools so the kids could join in the fun.

All this meant we raised just over £5,000 which is a fantastic amount, all going to help the BBC’s corporate charity. To make this even better, at LV= we charity match every penny which means they’ll receive £10,000. This will go to help make a real difference to children all across the UK by providing grants to 2,400 projects.

And the fun didn’t end there…

If you tuned in to our Facebook Live video you would have seen that the fun continued late in to the night as we held another call centre, taking donations for the charity. We’ve been hosting call centres for Children in Need for 12 years now and in that time taken over £800,000 in donations.

This year over 90 of our people from across our Bournemouth office volunteered their Friday evenings to take over 1,300 calls. This totalled over £50,000 in donations which was added to the Children in Need accumulator – another great result.

As we remain focused on helping people and communities flourish, children are a huge part of this. That’s why supporting national charities such as Children in Need is so important to us. This is a big step towards helping children and families who rely on this support to live more confidently.
