For example, we exchange information with other insurers through various databases to help us check the information you have provided and also to detect and prevent fraudulent claims.
Guarding against insurance fraud;
If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies. Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information. We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example, when:
- Checking details on applications for credit and credit related or other facilities
- Managing credit and credit related accounts or facilities
- Recovering debt
- Checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance
- Checking details of job applicants and employees

Using this technology helps us keep our prices low and our insurance fair for everyone.
If we find anything unusual or think someone has deliberately given us false information we'll look into it and, if necessary, we'll report it to the police. This sometimes leads to criminal prosecutions and convictions for fraud.
