Get an extra 10% when you choose our 50 Plus plan Funeral Benefit option
By selecting the funeral benefit option in your 50 Plus application, you can help your family even more by getting an extra 10% on top of your amount of cover. So for every £1,000 of your amount of cover that is used towards funeral costs, you could get an extra £100 (up to a maximum of £1,000).
Rising funeral costs

The average cost of a basic funeral in 2012 in the UK is £3,122* and this is expected to increase to £4,865 by 2020*.
However, this doesn't include personal touches like:
- church service
- flowers
- funeral car for your family
- newspaper notices
- catering
Our research on funerals shows that this would have pushed up the average cost of a funeral in 2014 to as much as £3486**.

Dignity - the UK's leading provider of funeral services
We work with a company called Dignity, they're the UK's largest funeral service providers with a network of over 500 funeral directors. Every year, they arrange one in eight of the funerals that take place in the UK.
It's important to make allowances for the increase in the cost of living. Your 50 Plus plan cover is fixed so the lump sum you select now won't be worth as much in the future.
