- If you die in the first year of your plan, your family may only get what you've paid in.
- If you cancel your plan or stop paying your premiums before your 90th birthday, you won't get back any premiums you've paid and your cover will end.
- Premiums paid might be more than the cash sum paid when you die.
- Your amount of cover is fixed when your plan starts and doesn't change. It won't keep up with inflation and will buy less in the future.
- Payment normally goes to your estate. Inheritance tax could apply to the part that's worth over £325,000 (tax years 2011/2012 to 2014/2015).
