(This document opens in a new window, and you'll need Adobe Reader to view it.)

Please note that you can only use this claim form pack for vet fees and purchase price claims. For all other claims, please call us on the number above.

Here's what you have to do:

  • Download and print off the pack.
  • Read the covering letter and complete Section 1 of the claim form, making sure that it's signed by the person whose name is on the policy.
  • Ask your vet to complete and sign Section 2 of the claim form.
  • Make sure that you've completed every action on the claim form checklist, and that you've got all the necessary paperwork.
  • Send your completed claim form and all the supporting documentation to the address listed on the checklist.

Additional information for purchase price claims:

  • You can make a claim for the purchase price of your pet if he/she has gone missing or died. Claims for death from illness can only be made if your dog was under 9 years of age or your cat was under 11 years of age.
  • If you want to make a claim for your pet's purchase price because he/she has gone missing or been stolen, your pet must have been missing for more than 45 days and we must see evidence that you reported the loss as required under the policy terms and conditions. For a dog, you must have reported the loss to the police within two days of your pet going missing. For a cat, you must have reported your cat missing to local rescue centres within 10 days of his/her disappearance.

Third party liability claims

You're covered for up to £2 million for compensation and costs you become legally liable to pay because your dog accidentally injures someone or causes damage to someone else's property.

You must call us on the number above as soon as you become aware of any circumstance that could result in you needing to make a claim under the third party liability section of your policy.

It's important that you don't do any of the following without our written consent:

  • Negotiate or admit responsibility.
  • Respond to any written correspondence (letters, emails) from someone who may claim against you or who is acting for someone who may claim against you, for example, their solicitor.
  • Make any offer, promise or payment.

If you do any of these things it might affect your claim.

Frequently asked pet insurance claims questions:

How much of a claim do I have to pay?

The policy excess is the amount you have to pay towards the cost of a claim.

For vet fees the excess is £60 for each claim for an illness or injury.

For third party liability and accidental damage claims the excess is £250 for each property damage claim. (Please be aware that if your pet causes injury to another pet, this is damage to a person’s property and the £250 excess will apply).

There is no excess for other types of claim such as advertising and reward if your pet is lost or stolen.

How will a claim affect my premium?

We don’t apply any additional discounts or premium increases based on the claims history of your pet. We want to make sure your pet gets the care and treatment he or she needs as quickly as possible and don’t want to put you off from claiming out of fear of affecting your premium.

How long will it take for my claim to be paid?

Once we have all the information we need to assess your claim we try to pay you within five working days. However, this does depend on the type of claim. We must have a fully completed and signed claim form, an itemised invoice/receipt for any treatment and a full medical history for your pet (if your claim is for vets fees) before the claim can be looked at.

Can you pay my vet directly?

We can make payment to your vet provided you have stated and signed this is where you want the claim payment to go and your vet is happy for us to do this. Please be aware that the excess and any fees that are not covered by the pet insurance remain your responsibility and must be settled directly by you to your vet.

If I pay by monthly direct debit and my pet dies, will I have to pay the remaining premium that is due for the year?

If your pet dies and you submit evidence of this (e.g. through a vet fees or death claim) any outstanding premium owed will not need to be paid.

Can I get a second opinion?

We will not pay for a second opinion unless we have agreed to this before you went for any treatment or incurred any costs for such treatment.

Can I go to a specialist vet for treatment?

We will only pay for treatment at a specialist or referral practice / centre if your vet is unable to perform the treatment and has recommended that your pet goes to that referral practice / centre. You must call us to get our agreement to any specialist / referral fee costs before these are incurred.
