Why is over 50s car insurance often cheaper than the average cover?

Over 50s who need car insurance will be glad to know that insurance premiums can be cheaper than average. Why? Well, there are many reasons why over 50s car insurance can be such a good deal:

1. Bigger no claim discount because many drivers over 50 tend to make fewer claims meaning the benefits from not claiming are increased. The longer a no claim bonus is maintained, the greater the discount will become, which can make quotes cheaper.
2. Fewer miles - another reason the over 50s often get cheaper car insurance is that this age group may travel fewer miles. A lower mileage means less chance of being in an accident, and so insurance premiums are likely to be reduced.
3. Lower insurance group - also, insurance for the over 50s is often lower because many of the cars driven tend to be of a lower insurance group. This will, of course, make the insurance cheaper than that for someone driving a car in one of the higher insurance groups.
