18 October 2011
Round 1 of the LV= Cup kicked off this weekend with some exciting matches – including a cracker with current holders Gloucester, who began their campaign with a winning start against Sale Sharks.
Gloucester scored seven tries against Sale, including one each from Charlie Sharples and Luke Narraway who attended the media launch at Kingsholm last week.
Harlequins made it seven wins from seven games in all competitions this season, thanks to an extra time try against London Irish.
Northampton Saints defeated current Premiership Champions Saracens at Franklins Garden’s, a win which included a hat-trick from Russian international Vasily Artemyev.
Newcastle Falcons also got off to a good start, winning 33-3 against Cardiff Blues. Bath Rugby defeated Dragons, while Worcester Warriors won the match against London Wasps by one point.
Elsewhere, the televised games saw Scarlets and Exeter Chiefs enjoy convincing wins against Leicester Tigers and Ospreys respectively.
