Protecting our national history
To celebrate 30 years since the Mary Rose was recovered from the sea off Portsmouth, LV= has become a sponsor of a new state-of-the art museum. Due to open in spring 2013, the museum will house the Mary Rose and her amazing collection of 19,000 artefacts in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.
As one of the most famous ships in the world, The Mary Rose sank in battle on 19 July 1545 with the loss of 700 men. Her subsequent raising in 1982 heralded the final chapter in her restoration. The new museum will allow visitors to see the original hull of the ship with its artefacts in situ.
