Funeral Benefit

Text too small?A A A

How does this work?

The proceeds from your 50 Plus plan will be paid directly to Dignity to help pay for your funeral. They'll appoint one of their local Funeral Directors to take care of the arrangements and any specific wishes you may have.

Who are Dignity?

With over 560 Funeral Directors, Dignity are one of the UK's leading funeral planning organisations. And each year they conduct around 65,000 funerals.

What does this give me?

You will either receive:

10% added to your amount of cover (if the funeral is more than your amount of cover)
Or
10% discounted from the funeral cost (if the funeral cost is less than your amount of cover)

Example:

How we work this out depends on whether the cash lump sum you have is more or less than the cost of your funeral when you die.

Mr A has a cash lump sum that is less than the cost of his funeral when he dies:

Mr A's funeral costs£3,000
The amount of cover he has from his plan is£2,500
His free funeral benefit gives him an extra 10% which is£250

Mr A has a total of £2,750 paid to Dignity to help cover the cost of his funeral and the remaining £250 would need to be paid for by his estate

Or

Mrs B has a cash lump sum that is more than the cost of her funeral when she dies:

Mrs B's funeral costs£3,000
The amount of cover she has from her plan is£4,000
Her free funeral benefit gives her a 10% discount of£300

Mrs B has a total of £2,700 paid to Dignity to pay for her funeral and the remaining £1,300 paid out to her estate

Can I change my mind?

You can change your mind free of charge at anytime, however if you were to do this you wouldn't receive the Funeral Benefit of up to 10% increase/discount. For more information please see - Funeral Benefit Option
